Dermatitis Due to Mites Bite |
Title:
Centipede and Camphor Tincture
Indications: Attack Toxin, Dispel Wind. Primarily treats
dermatitis due to mites bite.
Ingredients: Wu Gong (Centipede) 3-4 long pieces, Soak them in 500 ml. of 75% ethyl alcohol. After 2-3 weeks, strain out the centipedes and add in xiong huang (realgar) 30 grams, Zhong Nao (camphor) 20 grams, bing pian (borneol) 5 grams, ren zao niu huang (synthetic bezoar
(gallstone) 5 grams.
Instructions for use: Shake before using. Using a cotton ball, gently apply on the affected part of the skin. Apply 3-4 times a day.
Clinical effect: The author of the article treated 50 cases of dermatitis due to mites' bite. Among those, 31 cases recovered after applying the medicinal to the skin for 3 days. Another 13 cases recovered after applying the medicine for 6 days. The author goes on to state that in 2 cases antibiotics were used because of lymph node inflammation
and that the best results come from applying the medicine in the morning. |

Medicinal Preparation:
A small amount of shi hu sui, xiong huang (realgar), 1 large xing ren (apricot kernel), hong tang (brown sugar), 1 large walnut (he tao), add 10 ml. human breast milk, bai jiu (white alcohol) 10 ml., and mash together with a pestle and apply to the place of the wound. |

The Treatment of Ten Cases of Sleepwalking by Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine
Since 1974 the author has been using acupuncture and Sheng Tie Luo Yin, with modifications, to treat sleepwalking. Ten cases that were treated quite effectively will be introduced here.
Out of a total of ten cases, seven were men and three were women. In age they ranged from five years as the youngest, to fifty years as the oldest. The course of their disease lasted from less than one year to seven years as the longest. Shouting occurs in three cases, walking in circles in six cases and with two to three occurrences a month in one case. The duration of the episodes were without any regular pattern. All ten cases posses clear yin vacuity symptoms, with six cases having concurrent true yang vacuity of the middle, three cases with liver depression transforming into heat and one case of phlegm heat obstructing internally.
The author describes the sleepwalking patient as one who is in bed sleeping soundly, then suddenly gets out of bed, stands up and walks around and engages in household affairs or perhaps opens the door and goes outside for a sightseeing walk. Six cases are of those who walk inside their room and four cases are of those that go outside. Three of the cases remember nothing after waking up, six cases may be able to recollect the experience as if awake and one case where they are not clear.
Acupuncture: The points used were organized into two groups: Nei Guan (Per 6), Da Ling (Per 7) and Shen Men (Ht 7), and Tai Xi (Kid 3). Each day, needle one set of points, retaining needles for thirty minutes, alternating these two treatments, one after the other. Fifteen treatments constitute one course. Rest between courses three to five days. Use reinforcing and reducing hand methods.
Chinese medicinals:
Frusta Ferri (Sheng Tie Luo)100 grams decoct in water first, Tuber Ophiopogonis (Xiao Mai) 30 grams, mixed fried Radix Glycyrrhizae (Mi Zhi Gan Cao) 9 grams, Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae (Da Zao) 15 grams, Radix Paeoniae Lactfloriae (Bai Shao Yao) 15 grams. Decoct in water and take. First course of treatment, one dose per day, second course 2-3 doses per week, until the patients' condition stabilizes.
Clinical effect:
Out of ten cases, eight cases were considered cured, one case was improved and one case failed to respond. |

| Sun- light Dermatitis |
Title: Rehmannia Gypsum Transform Macule Decoction
Functions: Clears blood heat. Primarily treats plant and all sun light dermatitis with stasis maculae.
Chinese medicinals:
Fructus Arctii (Niu Bang Zi) 9 grams, Fructus Forsythia (Lian Qiao) 9 grams, Radix Scrophuariae (Xuan Shen) 9 grams, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae (Zhi Mu) 9 grams, Rhizoma Coptidis (Huang Lian) 6 grams, Gypsum Fibrosum (Shi Gao) 30 grams, (Zhu Ye) 20 grams, fresh uncooked Radix Rehmannia (Xian Sheng Di) 30 grams, fresh Radix Polygonia Multifloria (Xian Shou Wu) 30 grams, Flos Loncerae (Yin Hua) 9 grams, Radix Cynachi Atrari (Bai Wei) 9 grams. Decoct in water and take.
Additional pattern discrimination:
When the stasis maculae stops breaking open and forming pus, give priority to applying medicinal paste by using Two Treasure Elixir (Er Bao Dan), Nine to One Elixir ( Jiu Yi Dan ) or Tai Yi Gao. To clear dryness, take an herbal decoction of Radix Rehmannia (Sheng Di) 9 grams, (Dang Gui) 9 grams, Radix Paeoniae Lactifloria (Miao Bai Shao) 9 grams, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chen Pi) 9 grams, Rhizoma Anemarrhena (Zhi Mu) 9 grams, Radix Trichosanthis (Hua Fen) 9 grams, Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gan Cao) 3 grams, Medulla Junci Effusi (Deng Xin Cao) 30 cun in length.
Clinical Effect:
Of 24 cases treated, among 19 cases in the stasis maculae phase, 17 were cured and 2 cases erosion and oozing took place. In 5 cases of erosion and oozing phase, all were cured. Average time for treatment was 27 days.
Note: Ingredient list for Jiu Yi Dan: extremely fine powdered prepared Gypsum Fibrosum (Shi Gao) 90 grams, and Mecuric Oxide (Hong Fen) 10 grams. For Tai Yi Gao: Radix Scrophulariae, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, trunk of Radix Angelica sinisis, Cortex Cinnamomi, Radix Paeonia rubrae, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Radix Rehmanniae, Semen Momocrdicae cochinesis 60 grams, Resina Ferulae, Myrrha 9 grams, Crinis Carbonisatus 30 grams, Gummi Olibanum 15 grams, Minium 1200 grams, roasted sesame oil 2500 grams, twigs of willow and Chinese scholar tree 100 sections. Fry all the ingredients, except minium, in roasted sesame oil until they all become carbonized. Add the minium after removing the dregs. 195 grams Minium should be added to 500 grams of oil. Herbal Wines |
Yang Gao Jiu - Lamb Wine
Source: Ben Cao Gan Mu
Use: Tonify source qi, fortify spleen and stomach, benefit the waist and kidneys.
Main treatment:
Spleen vacuity, stomach cold, waist, knees sore and limp.
Chinese medicinals:
Tender, lamb meat, 3 jin(1.5 kilogram), apricot kernels(remove skins and tip) 200 grams, mu xiang 15 grams, shen qu 200 grams, polished glutinous rice 10 jin (5 kilogram).
Preparation: Soak and steam the rice, boil lamb meat, apricot kernels. Add the juice to the rice and mix together. Add mu xiang, shen qu (massa fermentata) and process the same as if brewing wine. Do not add water and process for ten days. Press out liquid, remove dregs, collect the liquid and store for use.
Method of use: On and empty stomach, take 2-3 small cups, 3 times a day.
Another method of preparation: Take and steam the tender sheep meat 5 Jin, soak in wine one night, crush seven good pears and add the juice, mix in shen qu, brew the same as rice wine.

Dang Shen Jiu - Codnopsis Wine

Functions: Tonify middle, benefit qi. Promote body fluid, support blood.
Indications: Spleen vacuity, loose stools, cold limbs. Four limbs cold, lack of strength. Appetite not good. Lung qi weak, short of breath, grasping for breath. Groaning sound in the voice. No desire to speak due to qi vacuity. Blood weak, muscle flaccidity and sallow complexion. Dizziness, flusteredness. Venereal disease, body fluid consumed and injured. Thirst.
Chinese medicinals: One, old, thick piece of dang shen (codnopsis) with minor roots still connected.
Processing: Take dang shen and beat it until it becomes cracked and split open. Place it into a clean bottle with 1 jin (500 grams) of wine, seal bottle and soak. Seven days later open the bottle and use. |

Yang Jing Gu Jiu - Sheep Tibia Bone Wine

Function: Fortify the lumbar, solidify the teeth.
Indications: Spleen and kidney vacuous and weak, sinews contracted , bone pain, teeth loose.
Ingredients: Sheep tibia 3 jin(1.5 kilogram), shen qu 150 grams, glutinous rice 10 jin (5 kilograms).
Processing: Boil the sheep bone into juice. Put juice together with the leaven, brew along with the rice into wine according to the normal method.
Usage: Three times a day drink 1-2 small tea cups.
